I also attended my first press day event. I was invited to the Big Hair No Care pop up store in Pop Brixton. Where Freddie hosted a great event introducing me, a selection of queens to her ethical afro textured clip ins.

I have been looking for a new job for months. I just needed a change of scenery and to be around like minded people. So your girl got herself a new job (hallelujah). I get to support a family owned business, that sells and support black owned businesses. So expect a lot more hair care and skin care posts on my socials.
At the end of June I was invited to Freddie Harrel's Big Hair No Care press release. Freddie has just opened up a pop up store at Pop Brixton, selling her ethical afro textured clip ins. As well as stocking some equally amazing products. Freddie wanted to create a space for black women to come and enjoy some positive vibes.
"Black women, here is your new den! Welcome to the Big Hair Squad" - Freddie Harrel
The picture above was of Freddie installing the Zero Drama Queen Clip Ins. Once they were installed I couldn't even tell the difference between Chauntelle's fro and the clip ins. I did give the clip ins a little feel and they did feel really soft and lightweight.
There is no human hair used to make the wigs and clip ins. When Freddie learnt about the inhumane ways the human hair is collected, she became grossed out and decided that synthetic hair was a better option. However Freddie wanted her clip ins to last, and if you have ever used synthetic hair then you are familiar with it's tendencies to tangle.
Starting back in 2016, we now have Freddie's clip ins and lace wigs gracing Brixton, with her initmate, pink, instagram friendly shop.
The BHNC store stocks Tammy's Jim +Henry 'Eight' Leave In Conditioner, Ibi's collection of plant based hair & skin care products The Afro Hair & Skin Co., A beautiful selection of books by Mark Lemon, starring mixed race children, and An A to Z book featuring Miles & Mia by Michaela Alexander. I have some more pictures from that evening on my instagram.
I am determined to go to as many events as possible this summer. Let me what events you're going to this summer. I am going to;
>> #AdzvicePush - Ade did tell us to look forward to an event, and he hasn't disappointed us. His PUSH event is looking like it's going to be an incredibly helpful day. There's going to be speakers, workshops, 1-2-1 sessions that aim to encourage personal and business development.
>> Lucayan Natural Network Club #2 - I was invited to their first event but unfortunately I couldn't attend, so I'm making sure I get to go to their second event. Like the first event @Cozygirlsclub & @Lucayanoils organised their second one is also a great networking event for bloggers, influencers and brands who are interested in organic beauty and fashion.
>> Black ballad's Black Girl's Summer Party - I became a member of Black Ballad last year and this will be my first time attending one of their members only events. Black Ballad is a media platform for black British women to share their stories, experiences and thoughts in a safe space.
That is my summer so far, if anything comes up or if there is an event I should know about then don't be shy, share it!
It isn't a monthly update if I don't feature some of my current favourite tunes.
Obviously I have been listening to SZA's album Ctrl 🔥. Right now my favourite songs from the album; Love Galore, The Weekend, Normal Girl, Go Gina, and Pretty Little Birds.
Wild Thoughts gets played everywhere, all of the time, but It's definitely a summer tune.
Came across two two songs by Freddie McGregor. I am now obsessed with; Big Ship and Rhythm So Nice. Giving me such Island vibes and getting me even more excited for carnival.
The video to Jhene Aiko's new song 'While We're Young' is so cute. I love Jhene's voice. (Currently bumpin' to this whilst I finish up this post).
How was June for you? Lets all collectively pray for some consistent sunshine please....cheers 👍
